Pardon me if this has been discussed before. I am relatively new here and a high level search across the forum did not get me an answer to these relatively basic questions.
My question is, is there are a disadvantage of any kind if I use my score a year later or may be 2 years later instead of using them immediately ? I know that GMAT scores are valid for 5 years, but how would the adcoms usually view stale (if I may say so) scores compared to the more recent ones.
Lets say I score a 700 as of August 2007 but plan to use it only in September 2008 to apply to certain schools which start Jan 2009. Would I be at a disadvantage as compared to some one else who also has a 700 but got that on August 2008 ??
Also since I would have sent my scores to 5 schools in August 2007, would I have to resend them again in 2008 when I am actually applying ?
Again, pardon me if these questions are elementary. Please do point me to the appropriate thread, so I can find the answers to my questions..

Although scores are valid for 5 years, generally you sohuld not use your scores if they are older than say 3 years. I dont think you need to resend the scores. Schools will keep your scores even if you dont apply for that particular season.

i dont see why you wouldnt use the score even if it is 4 years old. its not like all of a sudden you become dumb. 5 years is the limit, and you shouldnt feel bad about getting the most of it. i dont see why adcoms would care, the score goes into their average just the same whether you took it 1 years ago or a week ago.
