Hi all,

I've been attempting to study for the GMAT for the last 3 months but failing to get anywhere near my score. Just to give you a little background, I brushed up on all my core concepts for quant and verbal the first 3 months and took the GMAT. My timing was really off and I ran out of time for both Quant and Verbal but still scored a 590 (better than I had expected). For the next 1.5 months, I brushed up on my timing and studied quant subjects that needed help. My math skills definitely felt sharper, I was seeing different methods and able to solve more efficiently. I took it for the second time and my quant score stayed the same at 36-37. My timing was definitely improved, but I just feel like I can't get past that hump. On my practice tests on Kaplan, I was scoring in the low 40's consistently. My verbal is in the 60% percentile and am OK with it, since the school of my choice is looking more at quant anyways. I'm aiming for high 40's for quant and 34-35 in verbal.

I went back and looked at my practice tests on Manhattan and Kaplan, I'm weak in Geometry and Word Problems. I'm especially struggling on harder questions as I'm hitting a 30% clip while easy - medium, I'm hitting about 65%. I'm planning on brushing up on my weaker concept areas and purchasing the question/quiz pack from gmat club to just hammer only the tough questions. I've done the OG questions and Manhattan question bank a bunch of times so I feel like I've kind of memorized them.

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion if my new gameplan is solid. Is there anything else I could add to my plan to help me increase my score? Any help would be truly appreciated.

Thanks!!

How are you planning on brushing up on your weaker concepts? By using the same books as you did last two times? I agree that every time you will go through them, you will get something new out of them but that is too much effort for too little gain. If you are weak in Geometry, get hold of a high school Geometry book and go through the relevant topics - check out the way the Geometry concepts were introduced to a teenager for the first time. It will help you recall the little things that you have forgotten but that your material might be taking for granted. Once you do that, check out some advanced conceptual discussions on the topic. For example, here is a Geometry post from my blog: https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#/2011/09 ... -vertices/
This is how you build a solid understanding of the topic.

After this, you will need to practice new questions which you can find in our curriculum/practice tests/question bank.
