I was preparing for the ISB YLP round 2 where I have to submit my GMAT score and essay with my transcripts. Recently graduated college and I am now waiting for my joining in a reputed unicorn startup. I had a 4 month off so took some time off for travel and set to prepare for GMAT from June end. Booked a date for August 26.
I had also given a GMAT attempt in January with only 15 days of prep and scored a 590. I was expecting a higher score around this time or at least an 80 point increase with 0 efforts vs 100% efforts from 590 to this time around.
Revised all the tough OG 2018 questions that I had marked. Completed Manhattan SC guide and gave my Gmat prep 2 paper in July.
GMAT TEST 2 670
VERBAL 36
QUANT 47
Then started giving Kaplan tests after every 3 days. One day for the test, second for analysis and then third for related questions which went wrong in the test.
Kaplan test 2 650
V 34 Q 45
Kaplan test 3 650
V 38 Q 41
Kaplan test 4 610
V 33 Q 41
Kaplan Test 5 660
V 36 Q 41
After reading a few reviews, I felt that Kaplan was on the tougher side and I was doing 50 points short of my target score (700)
Completed Kaplan question bank and with an expectation between 650-750, I gave my GMAT exam.
GMAT 620
V 32
Q 43
IR 4
Extremely disappointed. I always saw Verbal as my strong point. Got almost all CR and SC questions by the end of the prep journey. Definitely scared of quant, but made my Verbal stronger to compensate. Also, hate IR.
With ISB YLP deadline on the brink, I accepted my score. I can't give a retake before the deadline (August 31). I don't really feel like there are any chances of getting accepted now with an average GPA ( 7.56). I have a startup of my own which I am working on but don't feel like anything will make the mark with such a low score. I still have 24 hours to cancel my score, should I do it? Also, the chances of giving my GMAT is low because of the huge disappointment and the fact that I wish to study in India only.
Target schools were ISB, MICA, SP JAIN, MDI. I can't give CAT as the quant is too tough for me, I think. Extremely confused with what to do and would really appreciate some guidance especially from Indians who might have faced the same.
