I appeared for GMAT today and scored 650. The breakup was Quant-46 and Verbal-34. I had put in a month worth of preparations. My scores in the GMAT preps were 650 and 670. I had scored 680 in MGMAT practise test.
The one common factor across all the exams were low scores in Verbal hovering in the low 30's. I am not sure what I need to do to improve my verbal score particularly in SC where my accuracy is around 50-55%. I have been doing decent on RC where my hit ratio is 70% and for CR its around 65-70%.
The material that I used during my preparation were
1. OG guide
2. Manhattan GMAT books particularly SC
3. Veritas Prep Books
I am planning to retake the GMAT in 2 weeks from now. I would really appreciate if someone can provide their experience or guidance to improve the Verbal score. I am desperately looking to get my verbal score in the 40's so that I can move my score to 720+.

Two words:
error log
If you don't know why your are scoring the way you are in verbal, we can't really help you. Keeping an error log helps you answer the "why" portion (why you gravitate to incorrect answers). Once you figure this out, it's much easier to remedy the problem and make progress in your prep. Simply read explanations/doing problems and reading content isn't always enough.
My personal experience here is I used to think in correct grammar. Once I figured this one, my SC score jumped and I was able to break the 700 mark. Before that, I was completely stuck on "why" I kept getting SC problems incorrect.

Hi Avinash,
Here is a simple principle that can make abig difference:
Do not make a mistake twice.
I believe that while you are putting sufficient time in giving your mocks, you probably are not spending enough on the evaluation. Please make a physical log (write it yourself, do not type) of "what" was the mistake and "why" you thought that was the answer. Believe me you will see the difference soon.
