Hi Thoughtosphere,

With the test one month away, have you identified where you find weakness in the verbal section? If so, I would focus on those questions by analyzing where you went wrong and how much time you spend on them.

If you can tell me which questions you have a harder time with, I can offer some additional insight.

Hang in there--you're almost at your goal!

Hi Jessica,

My biggest weakness has been reading comprehension. I fared so bad that 2 of the three passages were completely wrong and the third passage had two out of 5 correct.

The mistakes that I made in CR and SC were, I guess, the 700 score threshold problems.

The mistakes in DS were the ones which needed me to look from a different perspective and the QA section result suggests me to spend more time on Probability Permutation and Combination, Standard Deviation and a bit of effort in Geometry. I was able to get almost all of the questions correct in my second attempt.

The only portion that gives me goosebumps is RC and this disasterous situation persists contradicting the fact that reading is my hobby.

Please suggest me that how should I move my RC score from Red to Green Zone.

Cheers!!!

Hi Thoughtosphere,

Don't get disheartened about RC. Even though reading is a hobby of yours, it's important to know that the GMAT requires that we be active readers. Meaning, it's about HOW you read the passages. Our tutors recommend that you ask yourself the following questions when reading the passages:

What is the main idea of this passage?
What is the author's position and tone?
What is the structure of the argument?

You still have a month until you take the test. With that, start reading publications such as the NY Times, Businessweek, the Economist. Read the oped section, as they often use a language level similar with and are about the same length as the GMAT RC questions.

Here are some additional posts that we have on our site that discuss RC:

Hope this helps. Good luck...you'll do great!
