Hi Rich,
thank your for your response!
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
- I have studied for about six weeks now. There were intensive days and some days I did not study at all.
2) What materials have you used?
- All
MGMAT Books, BUT I only glanced on the RC and CR Guides and extracted the core concepts. Especially on CR I have always done very well.
Moreover, I did all Quant exercises of the
MGMAT books and those of the OG13 and QuantReview13. For Verbal, I did only the OG13 SC exercises and did a intensive revision of my wrong answers with the help of the
MGMAT SC Companion book. This resulted in a steep improvement in my SC performances.
Finally, I bought the GMATprep exam pack 1,2 and the additional exercises. In my view, it seems to make most sense to practise for Verbal only on official stuff.
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
I only did GMATprep CATs. My results are:
28.10. - 560 (Q37, V29) - I have never encountered any GMAT question before
5.12. - 660 (Q47, V34) - 17 incorrect in Q, 15 incorrect in V. Needed to guess on the last 10 questions or so in either section.
13.12. - 690 (Q48, V35) - 11 incorrect in Q, 14 incorrect in V. Same guessing thing here.
Goals:
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
- I am going to apply to the first school in January 2017.
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
- The CEMS Master in Management is the programme I want to get in. I am going to apply to, at least, the SSE (Stockholm), the RSM (Rotterdam), the CBS (Copenhagen), and the University of Cologne (Germany).
Additional information:
- I am German and, thus, a non-native english speaker. I hold a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration and Economics since October with a GPA between 4.0 and 3.7. I have no idea how to convert my German GPA correctly. For reference, I have reached the 96% quantile of my cohort. That is all undergraduates since July 2014.
So far I think that time management is the most important thing I have to work on. Yesterday, I worked on 20 RC questions in GMATprep and was able to answer 17 correctly. I tried both reading carefully taking notes and skimming fast taking no notes at all, resulting in equal accuracy and average time spent per question. I noted that it took me very long (4 min) to read carefully and understand even a short passage. Even if I was able to solve the following questions afterwards quickly, I tend to decide on the skimming strategy because the careful strategy really pays off only in the case of many questions on one RC passage. In contrast, the average time for skimming does not depend on the amount of questions per passage. When writing this I recognize, that this is one of my problems, too. I have not decided on either strategy, yet.
I appreciate any idea and response.
Cheers!
