Tarek,

I scored a 680(Q45,V39). I had only 2 wrong in Quant and got a 45. So I dunno how it is graded. I think it is graded out of 700...hehe

Also, I thought quant was very easy. Verbal RC's were brutal though

I agree that Quant was too easy to be considered GMAT level. But Verbal was usual difficulty (may be because I am not that good in verbal). I had not taken my GMAT exam so far, so cannot comment on that.

Well, here is the breakdown of my performance on this test:

DS
# correct: 12
Total #: 14

PS
# correct: 22
Total #: 23

CR
# correct: 9
Total #: 11

RC
# correct: 11
Total #: 14

SC
# correct: 13
Total #: 16

yeah, I felt that the math section was pretty easy. So would the verbal section be considered a more reliable indicator?

Well, what I do know for sure is that the CAT test doesn't give you a score based on how many questions you get them correct. The CAT rather gives you a score based on the difficulty of the questions that you got them correct. Perhaps the 2 mistakes you had were made earlier in the section? Or your mistakes could have been on the easier type of question? What I came to discover is that the harder is the question that you answer correctly, the better points you're awarded with. On the other hand, the easier is the question that you screw up with, the harsher is the number of points you loose. Basically, the higher score you want to achieve, the less mistakes you need to make on the easier question. Does that make sense? Otherwise, why would you deserve a higher score if your competency level on the easier question remains weak?

So, in order to score at least a 700 on your test, you basically need to make sure that you answer all the 500 to 690 level questions correctly. Does that make sense? I think that's how it works.

Now when I look at my 3 mistakes at the math section, my first mistake is at question number 19. Then my next incorrect answer is question number 33, and then 37. So, were your mistakes made that late in the section? perhaps that's why. I might be wrong, but it will be interesting to learn more about how the CAT test works.
