Hi eveyone!
I'm following the
Magoosh 3 months beginners study plan. I'm on week 5 of the plan and just took my first
MGMAT CAT and got a 530, this was my first attempt on a Gmat practice test. I'm honestly crushed, cause I'm aiming to get a 650 at the actual test.
Is it normal to get such a low score on my first try? or should I be worried?
Thanks for your feedback!
MGMAT CATS are known to be harder than the actual test. The
MGMAT quant section is definitely harder than the
Magoosh quant portion. After I took my first
MGMAT CAT I searched on GMAT club for the difficulty of the questions and 80% of them were above the 75% difficulty rating on this site (with a good majority at 85% or 95%). I am decent at math, but I will probably end up with a 48 or 49. I was surprised to see the difficulty level that high for so many questions.
Best practice is to review the answers you got wrong for better understanding and keep chugging along. I scored a 610 on my first gmat prep test (left 6, i know 6 questions!!!!, unanswered) because it is important to practice timing and my timing was way off. On my next CAT,
Magoosh, I scored a 680 with only 1 quant question unanswered.
If you worry too much, it will get in the way of your studying. Make sure you know what you did wrong and hit the books again!
Good luck!
