You should only retake if you can put in about 6 weeks of effort and improve ur score by a good 40~60 points. Sometimes, retaking can hurt ur app if you do not improve substantially or score lower.

Dear all,

I am wondering what I can expect from test day since I see a large (positive) deviation between MGMAT tests (AWA included, timed sessions) to the official prep material:

in chronological order:

May 11: GMAT Prep 1 - 550 (think it was Q 36, V 30)
Mid June 11: GMAT Prep 2 - 590 (Q 38, V 34)
---
Mid June 11: MGMAT free test - 690 (Q 44, V 39)
July 11: MGMAT 1 - 650 (Q 44, V 35)
Today: MGMAT 2 - 710 (Q 46, V 41)

I actually thought that MGMAT is considered more difficult than real GMAT while official GMAT prep is perceived easier (by the way: Kaplan offered a 580 two weeks ago). My scores however seem somewhat inconsistent with that assumption! Does anybody have an idea or advice?

Thanks a lot!

I feel that if you are scoring a Q 46 on quant in MGMAT you should be scoring a Q 47-49 on the GMATPREP/REAL GMAT based off of Quant skill. BUT, the GMATPREP and REAL GMAT seem to be more a bit more tricky in the way they word problems and can easily confuse someone who is rushing into answering a misunderstood question.

So my best advice would be to make sure you are reading the quant questions and understanding WHAT they are asking you to solve on the GMATPREP/REAL GMAT, if you review your GMATPREPs you'll see you probably made a lot of dumb mistakes but that you knew the content. (This is what I feel messed up my Quant score so don't let it happen to you).

As for Verbal, I think the Verbal score can flunctuate the most. Just make sure you have a clear head going in and build up your test taking stamina by taking more practice test in real-time settings including essays. Verbal is the last section so you want to make sure you're not feeling drained by the time it comes around because it will be the biggest determinant of your overall score.

All that said though, I would expect you to score about a 700 +/- 20points.
