Scored extremely low in GMAT despite higher scores in Mocks

Question

Hello Everyone, I got an extremely low score in the real exam than in Mocks. I have been studying for 1 year period and did more than 12 Mocks starting from 550 ending with 640 in Manhattan Mocks.

Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated.

Might be worth getting the ESR if you are unsure what happened. If you know time management was a problem on the exam, you might want to get some time markers and develop a method to get yourself back on track.

I faced an electricity issue during the exam, electricity has gone two times, finally, I could manage to finish the exam but 1.5 hours later. It is possible to lose points for that reason?

Scored well on mocks but failed miserably on the test?

Having said that, it would be too early to conclude anything without knowing the actual reason. To understand what could have led to the drop in the score and to suggest you the plan of action, I need a little more information about your GMAT preparation. I would like to know more about

the way you prepared till now (your study strategy) 
 your weak areas 
 your approach of solving questions 
 the resources you have used

Answers to these questions will help me guide you in a better way. And I personally suggest to go for the retake only after you prepared well and are 100% confident.

I'm sorry to hear about the technical issues that you faced on Test Day; that must have been really frustrating and could certainly have impacted your mindset (and performance). Can you go into a bit more detail about what happened (were you at a Test Center or did you take the At-home GMAT? At what point(s) during the Exam did you lose power - and for how long? Were there any issues restarting or continuing your Exam? Etc.). Beyond these technical issues, when these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" often involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What was your Official Score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
