Hey everyone,
last week I took the GMAT Prep Exam 2 and scored 740 (Q50, V41, IR7). This definitely is an awesome score, but I recognized approximately 5-6 questions because they had been posted on gmatclub. Hence, I knew in which direction I had to go and it definitely took me less time to solve them.
Four days ago, I took another prep exam of
ExpertsGlobal and scored 700 (Q49, V35, IR8). This exam also didn't feel completely representative because a) I had to go to the toilet during the verbal session so I lost like three minutes and b) I got a bit lucky with approx 3 math questions that I just guessed right.
In conclusion, I scored promising test results but they don't feel like a safe indicator yet. Of course, the logic thing to do is to do more CATs. However, I'm was curious if someone could give me a few tips on how to proceed now. I will tell you a bit more about how I feel about my current knowledge:
Quant:
I reviewed all important concepts by using
TargetTestPrep and got on average 80% of the problems right. This is solid but there still is room for improvement. I know that there are topic such as remainders and algebra in which I frequently act uncertain so I definitely should revisit these topics. Additionally, I usually tackle many of 600-700 questions on gmatclub but I don't have a real structure in doing this. It's probably better to focus on one topic at a time and to practice 20 questions about arithmetics, right?
Verbal:
- Sentence Correction is going good as I practiced a lot of questions and know many important elements
- Critical Reasoning also goes well but I still have to work on my accuracy because I occasionally misread question or answers, leading my to committing silly mistakes
- Reading Comprehension is kinda on/off. I usually understand the passages that I read well, however, I occasionally fail to translate that understanding into answering the question correctly. In the
ExpertsGlobal Prep Exam I answered all questions of the last passage incorrectly, a result about which I was very disappointed. In contrast, in the Prep Exam 2 I only answered one RC question incorrectly. I think that I usually can narrow down the answer choices to two options but that I sometimes fail to understand the crucial difference between the two last answers.
I haven't scheduled my exam yet but I want to write the GMAT in June. My goal is 700 or more, which seems to be realistic imo.
What would you recommend to me how to proceed? Are there any specific tips for students who perform at the edge of 700?
Thanks in advance
