I took the GMAT in October and got a 660. I took it today for the 2nd time and did much worse (580). I am so disappointed. I'm not sure what went wrong- probably anxiety. My GPA from UGA in Real Estate and Marketing was a 3.96 and I have 3.5 years of experience in management. Should I worry about taking the GMAT again? My applications for round 2 for UNC and UVA are in now. Haven't heard for interviews. Should I be considering schools in the top 40-50 rankings instead?

I would say it depends on two big things:
1. Given the rest of your profile, whether you think a 660 is good enough for your target schools. If they only consider your top score, the 580 won't hurt you.
2. Whether you're dead set on starting school next fall, or if you'd consider putting it off for a year so you can work for a better GMAT score and build a stronger overall package.

Thanks for your reply. I do want to go back to school next year, but will wait and re-apply next year if I don't get in. I think I need to take a few months off from the GMAT to re-evaluate my strategy if I need to take it next year.... Maybe I'll get in without taking it again! I am also applying to Chicago Booth Part-time program...
