Hi,
I gave GMAT twice and scored very low in both the attempts.
1st GMAT
14 Nov 2011
620 Q:49 V26 AWA 4.5
2nd Attempt
28 Aug 2014
Score Not Reported
Scored- 560 IR 3 Q 44 V 26
I dont know what happened in 2nd time . I accept that in first attempt I did not prepared well. But second time I prepared and was scoring around 640-680 inmost of the practice tests. Don't know what went wrong or is this the true evaluation of myself and i can not score above this. I really need a good advice on it that what should I do from here. Any help/suggestion feedback is highly appreciated.
GMAT Preparation
1st Attempt: 14 Nov 2011
I started with OG12 accompanied by Powerscore Bible for Critical Reasoning and MGMAT Sentence Correction . Was not able to complete any of it. Studied only 1 day for Quant. and wrote the examination. I was not able to prepare well due to the pressure at work. I went in the examination hall with the least expectation. One thing which I took positive was my score in Quant .I know that I really need to work hard for Verbal.I wrote some Mock tests and scored for around 620 in most of them.
GMAT Prep 1 580 (did not remember the breakup of marks)
MGMAT 1 : 620 (Q 49 , V 26)
MGMAT 2 670 (Q 49 V 32)
2nd Attempt
After 2 years I again thought to give GMAT and started my preparation in October 2013. it took me 10 months to sit for the exam as in between my preparation was on and off due to work pressure at the office. But I really tried hard since July 2014.I knew i am weak in Sentence Correction and I needed some guidance. So I choose [highlight]e-gmat SC Course for my preparation. This course is really good and it changed my view to look in to Sentence Correction Questions. I went through the course and was scoring around 70% in most of their test . except a few in which I scored 30-40%.
Books Which i refereed this time .
1.
OG 13 Completed twice this time.First along with the
e-gmat Sentence Correction and second before 1 month of Actual GMAT.
2. Manhattan SC - completed 10 chapters as I was getting a feeling more interested in
e-gmat course and it always looked to me that they covered everything in it.
3. Power Score Bible for CR : Completed once and and revised the concepts before the examination
4. Quant:I accept that I did not put much efforts in quant and I was relying on my past skills and performance in Quant . I thought to give a week or 2 before the examination and was confident to complete it.
This time I gave many mock test details of which are as below
GMAT Prep 1 26 Feb 2014: 620 (Q 48, V 28) did not wrote IR and AWA.
MGMAT 1 20- Apr -2014 : 620 (Q 45 V 31) NO IR and AWA
MGMAT 2 24-May-2014 600 (Q 45 V 29) NO IR and AWA
MGMAT 3 5-July-2014 620 (Q 45 V 31) NO IR and AWA
MGMAT 4 2-Aug-2014 590(Q 44 V 29) NO IR and AWA
MGMAT 5 3-Aug-2014 640(Q 43 V 34 IR 1) No AWA
At this point I did not touched the Quant books and scoring low scores regulary gave me a reality check and i got stumped in my 1st assumption and was very scared for Quant now. Thus I started my quant preparation now and rescheduled my GMAT from 14 AUG to 28 AUG as I need to give it before 31 Aug to apply in some of the colleges in India.
After a preparation of 2 weeks in Quant along with Verbal
GMAT prep 2 17- Aug 2014 640 (Q 47 V 31) No IR and AWA
I was not happy with this score and was really scared. I took a 6 day leave to prepare well for rest of the days.
MGMAT 6 25 Aug 2014 590 (IR 3.17 Q 42 V 31) No AWA
I was shocked that as the time approaches for the real GMAT I am actually scoring very low. After analysis I found that When I focus more on Quant than my score in Verbal went down and When I focus on Verbal my score in Quant went down,Although my best score in Verbal was 34. But yes in most of the mock tests I was able to find out that what is being asked in the question. What this question want to test and what are the traps in options in most of the question clearly. In which I was not able to find out the trap and guessed it went wrong.
MGMAT 6 was a disaster for me. I though it as a bad day for me and tried to focus on my preparation again.
GMAT PREP 2 after Resetting the paper: 680 (Q 49, V 33 IR 5 ) No AWA.
This point of time I believed that I will not able to score 700 clearly but Yes I will be able to score around 650-680 in actual GMAT.
Finally D Day Came. and everything went wrong to this extent that I had to cancel my scores. I scored a 560. It was bad and it seems that everything is ruined. I dont know what to do further. If i Decide to write the GMAT again than how to proceed for it. How to start, what to read as I have covered recommended books.
Really need help...
