Quote:
(E) Sculptor Alexander Calder, who often made use of old pieces of junk in his art, also believed in recycling at home; he

Calder is the subject. Then there is a noun modifier in the form of a relative clause starting with 'who' and ending with art. The verb of the first clause is "also believed" in recycling at home. Then there is the semicolon. The second IC with 'he' as the subject is followed by its own predicate.
HTH

PS: There was a typo in my earlier posting. I had missed 'the semicolon' and the word 'he' and I have since amended the typos.

In option E, isn't the use of "also" quite unnecessary? "Believed in recycling at home" is the first thing the main sentence is introducing if we keep the relative clause "who often made use of old pieces of junk in his art" aside
