Key assumptions which are made in this question:
1. Snare island residents are interested in Low fat alternatives
2. Snare island residents find snare fish costly and would switch for lower price alternative
3. Snare residents are willing to eat non local fish

(A) Many of the species of fish caught by Snare Island fishermen and Chinuan fishermen are closely related.
Incorrect: Doesnt weaken any of the assumptions above

(B) Consumers in Snare Island eat fish in restaurants about as often as do consumers in Chinua.
Irrelevant: Comparison which does not make any sense

(C) At times in the past, Snare Island fishermen have sold much of their catch to buyers in Chinua.
Irrelevant: Out of Scope

(D) The warmer climate in Chinua allows Chinuan fishermen to harvest fish more months of the year than can Snare Island fishermen.
Irrelevant: Out of Scope

(E) Most Snare Island residents are not concerned about their diet and believe that locally-caught fish are low-fat.
Correct: Weakens assumption 1, that Snare island residents are concerned about low fate alternatives (Basically diet). If in place of MOST, if the key word was SOME, then it would have been a different scenario.

Seafood restaurants in Snare Island generally serve only fish caught in the waters around Snare Island since inhabitants are accustomed to the distinctive taste of Snare fish. Nevertheless, fishermen from Chinua, a nearby island, plan to sell Snare Island residents fish caught in Chinuan waters by selling at a lower price than that of Snare fish and marketing it as a low-fat alternative.

Which of the following, if true, casts most doubt on the viability of the plan by Chinua's fishermen to sell their fish in Snare Island?

(A) Many of the species of fish caught by Snare Island fishermen and Chinuan fishermen are closely related.

(B) Consumers in Snare Island eat fish in restaurants about as often as do consumers in Chinua.

(C) At times in the past, Snare Island fishermen have sold much of their catch to buyers in Chinua.

(D) The warmer climate in Chinua allows Chinuan fishermen to harvest fish more months of the year than can Snare Island fishermen.

(E) Most Snare Island residents are not concerned about their diet and believe that locally-caught fish are low-fat.

Official Explanation

Answer: E.

To weaken the plan, look for what the plan assumes. The fishermen think that selling at a lower price and marketing as a low-fat alternative will increase sales. If customers don't care about price, or don't care about fat intake, the plan has problems. The only choice to address these weaknesses directly is (E), which tells us that customers aren't concerned about fat intake (their diet). Note that while the other four choices use many key words from the passage, they do not directly engage the fishermen's plan. CR answers are always very closely related to the scope of the passage. (E) is correct.
