I dont want to disappoint you but there is no chance for admission to PhD in business without a score of +700 anywhere in the US. And more often than not even that will not be enough. I wish I had a better news for you.

Not trying to sound like an a-hole here but a big LOL buddy. Some of my good friends got in with 620, 640 and a 590 in good State schools in Florida, Texas and California. For PhD programs, the GMAT is not such a big factor as much as for MBA. They had good experience in Education and teaching plus good solid backgrounds in research, with great GPA's (Applications, yada yada etc). I would agree that if you're looking into a PhD thats Finance or Accounting related, YES a high GMAT score is required as its analytical intensive.

If the said above student is coming fresh of out a Masters degree with 1-2 years experience and an average GPA, yeah he better build a solid GMAT score but for a candidate with 4-5 years experience, good research background and good ... you get the picture! :) Just my 2 cents. I still say he has time to improve, go for another shot and aim higher bro!

This is what I Just wanted, I will really appreciate if you can provide me two or three universities where they got admission, although I did my masters in finance but I want to do further studies in business psychology, decision sciences or management.

What you said is interesting enough and right. However, saying this you assume that ALL the PhD candidates must have previous experience, in particular in some field, a stellar GPA and so on.......

But we do know that this is not true in the majority of the cases: the submission universities pages clearly state that you must have a certain gmat score (top BS want 680 >= ) and a strong reseach proposal and a strong letter of intent. That's it.

This imply that you could or not have previous experience in that field of enquiry or else. As it turns out, only the minority of candidates have what you affirm.

In other words, between two candidates we could have someone with your criteria but a weak research proposal and a guy with the reverse scenario: no experience, medium gpa, good gmat score, a GOOD proposal and a SOP really motivated and well crafted.

You can bet that the ADCOM will choose the second one.

Hope this helps

HSB PhD Rules

  • Never ask anyone to select universities for PhD
  • Don’t apply to university without getting reply from a professor
  • Read Rule #2 Again.
  • Don’t apply for PhD because you are can get a job
  • Don’t apply for PhD because you can get higher salary
  • Don’t apply for PhD if you don’t know what is Research

Moreover, you could you find a Phd searching a school that fits your criteria (if you already know some info) OR the brute force way (very effective): open the PhD page enrollment of each school you think have a good program of interest for you (i.e. having an huge area of expertise in that field: for instance, University of Maryland is strong in strategic management but through quantitative reasearch so is unuseful to apply there if you want to do qualitative research ) THEN see the faculty and notice in his/her profile they have the interest you are looking for as research.

You also can see if that professor have done a pubblication (or more) in your field of interest.

In this way you can narrow your Universities list to 4 or five schools. The rest would be a waste of time and money.

See this https://www.eduniversal-ranking.com/busi ... n-usa.html and then from this start to digg.

I dont think rule #2 is valid, because I did attend their information session and the presenter clearly said the professors dont have time to reply to all e-mails. So its not needed to contact professors. If your profile is strong then you will get selected.

I know its a hard work finding the universities with full funding, but if you start putting 1-2 hours every day you will find them. You can start from mba.com there you have the option to sort your schools which offer phd and funding. Even youtube has top 100 universities etc so you can watch them and then visit their website and see if its funded.

I am also in the same boat, but as of now I am targeting top schools and want to concentrate on my GMAT first, after having a good score I can think about programs. Because I spent too much time on all these before taking GMAT and my GMAT Score was not great. So spending all time for GMAT first.

Yes if you already have some research exp, if you are confident GMAT score should not be a factor for you then you can start shortlisting and applying.

again any university which is offering full funding has lot of competition.

copy Pasting my shortlist, it might be in different countries you have to sort it out and check their websites for more information.

B - School list - not formatted properly yet. Sorry about it. I just copy paste everything I come across to excel sheet.
