This is my first post, so let me give you a quick background of my situation for context.
I took the GMAT last June although I wasn't ready to begin applying to schools. Since my work schedule was light at the time, I used my nights/weekends to study, primarily with Knewton/
MGMAT books and OG books. I ended up with a 680 on the actual exam, which seemed fine to me. I understand that EMBA programs aren't quite as rigorous about GMAT scores, and I have plenty of great, international work experience.
So long story short, I sat on my "good enough" score for a year. My work situation has changed and now I am seriously considering applying to several top EMBA programs this fall. As I began exploring options, I heard from multiple admissions consultants that my Quant score will be a possible hurdle to an otherwise solid application. In terms of percentile, my original GMAT score was 86% overall with 92% in Verbal and 62% in Quant. From what I understand, the top schools are looking for a minimum of 70% for both V and Q.
Armed with this new target, I am now studying to retake the GMAT in the next few months (date TBD - still need to create a study plan). I am leaning towards buying the GMATPill, given the 50-point guarantee. I know that Knewton has the same guarantee, but they require you to take 6 full CATs. From my experience, targeted studying with specific questions based on your
error log is a more efficient use of time than simply taking CATs over and over. I used Knewton the first time around and thought it was a very good course, but I certainly didn't take more than 2 CATs - especially since I wanted to use the official software at least once.
Thanks in advance for any advice, especially getting over that mid-range math hump for a non-math guy!
Looking forward to being a part of the GMAT Club forum.
Cheers
