Hi,
My Profile:
Nationality: Indian
Post MBA: 5+ years experience as business and tech product manager/owner across various industries such as supply chain and financial services.
Pre MBA: 2 years experience as Process Engineer in manufacturing sector.
Age: 31
Education :
B.Tech: '08- 7.5/10 GPA
MBA: '12- 2.4/4 GPA
I just got permanent resident card from Canada. I am planning to pursue MBA(preferably less than 2 years) in order to be "good enough" for job market there.
GMAT planned for next month (target: 710). Previous GMAT score: 670
Questions:
1) I know there are minimum academic requirements for MBA schools. Will they consider my B.Tech or first MBA scores?
2) If i decide to apply now, what's the probability of getting an admit at HEC Montreal, Sauder considering it's already past 2nd round?
3) Will my age be a hindrance in getting an admit?
4) What are post MBA opportunities with present experience as Product Manager. Preferred roles: Corporate Strategy, Consulting.
Pardon me for long post. Looking forward to a response. Thanks in advance.
Hey there,
Well obviously the better you do on your GMAT, the better your profile will be. Although of course that is not the only consideration.
1.
The MBA will consider all of your grades, although your Undergrad grades are likely to have more bearing than your first MBA. Keep in mind that if you already have one MBA they will likely expect some sort of explanation as to why getting a second one is necessary.
2. It's possible, but it depends on the rest of your profile as well as your ability to construct a fantastic application
3. Not much. 31 is above the average, but it's also not unreasonable.
4. Many things. And it will depend upon your career history as well as your interests, and abilities to cultivate a network, but the posts you have proposed seem like reasonable options.
Best,
JF
