I'd go with A also. I think "portent of" is the right idiom here. It means "omen of".
"which" in A properly refers to the destruction
"which" in B should have refered to some kind of noun(destruction) but "destroyed" is a verb and hence, "which" is just dangling in this case.

click the save as picture button in acrobat, drag and copy it in clipboard. open paint from start->programs->accessory->paint and then paste the pic in it. save it as jpeg and upload it. easy is'nt it?

OA is A. I got it wrong because first i thought correct idiom is" portent for". Also, use of which in A confused me..but now reading paul's explanation on use of which in case of prepositional phrase ( destruction of jerusalem), i can see that which here refers to destruction rather than jerusalem.

I was stuck between A and E. Because I was not sure of the right preposition. And the ending of the underlined phrase in E seemed better than that of A
