Hi DazednConfused,
Sorry for the delay! I'm only slated to check the forum about 1/week and this has been a busy one with Round 1 fast approaching!
Wow, excellent GMAT score, nicely done! And you have strong grades from your B.Tech too.
32 at matriculation is not a huge challenge. Schools usually look at experience level, not just age. Read our blog post on this topic here:
https://www.mbamission.com/blog/2019/01 ... -school-5/The unconventional path you took is really interesting, and I think schools will understand it was a chance that was too hard to pass up. Even though it's not traditional business experience, I am sure you have lots of examples you can point to from your time playing of personal drive, work ethic, leadership, teamwork, learning from failures, etc.
I think your reasons for pursuing an analytics focused degree make sense, and while the injury is unfortunate, it sounds like it's given you time to reflect on the strengths you have and how you can use them to make a difference in a field you're passionate about.
Re. your queries,
1) With your GMAT score so high, I think a full scholarship is definitely in reach at that level of school. Scholarships are always a bit hard to predict, because criteria vary by school, but that seems achieveable based on what I've seen.
2) It's hard to predict the job market a few years out. Yes there have been some changes, but schools are working very hard to ensure strong placements for their graduates. There's also been some developments regarding STEM approved programs qualifying for visa extensions, so your choice of study should improve your job prospects because of that. I don't think this is a reason not to apply, but it's a reason to consider when you make your final decision about which school to attend, as you want to review their most recent employment stats and get a sense from current students what the job market is like.
3) A few other schools that come to mind for business analytics are Purdue Krannert, USC Marshall, and Notre Dame Mendoza.
Hope this helps!
Kate
So my query to you is this -->
1) Based on your experience and a cursory look at my profile/story, what do you think of my chances of landing a full tuition scholarship in these colleges?? That would really lessen the burden on my family too.
2) This is another area that is troubling me - How difficult will it be for an international applicant with a weird profile like mine to land a job in Trump's USA after MBA (obviously my MBA GPA has to be stellar, that is a given)? Is there any chance of a recruiter actually finding my story interesting? I heard that without RELEVANT work-ex, an international student may just as well forget dreaming of a job. How far is this true?
3) What other colleges would you ask me to seriously consider, based on my profile (keeping the dependency on scholarship in mind)?
I am really banking on you to give me some clarity before I jump headlong into the application process.....

mbaMissionKate Mam, could you look into my query please?
