I am relatively new to GMAT preparation and have recently embarked on this journey to pursue higher education. Despite being in the early stages of my preparation, I find the process both challenging and exciting. I'm reaching out to seek advice from those who have experience with GMAT

Hi Susan,
It's great that you chose to reach out to get a strong fundamental understanding of the challenge ahead of you and the right path to get to your target.
Here a few of the key questions you'll want to get answered:
1. What are the key parts of the GMAT and how does it test you? That includes understanding the difference between easy, medium and hard questions in each section as well the scoring system that leads up to your final score out of 805 (I'm assuming you're taking the Focus Edition since you're just getting started).
2. Where do I stand right now on all the key conceptual and test taking skill areas that are important for the GMAT?
3. What is the right prep plan, tools and time commitment to get you to your target score?
4. What role can online tools, group classes and/or 1 on 1 coaching play in your prep?
We offer a FREE GMAT intro / diagnostic session 1 on 1 with an expert coach that can give you the answers to all these questions in a very personalized way.

Consider taking an Official Mock from the MBA site after getting a bit familiar with the material. Careful to do the mock for the version of the GMAT you intend to take. You could also check out some of the debriefs in the Share GMAT Experience subforum to see what others have done/used in their prep journeys. Fair to say including official questions/official mocks into a prep path would be a solid choice. You can get e-versions of different guides from the MBA site.
