I went to the GMAT Exam hall with 50 days of preparation only in my 1st attempt with a relaxed mindset. I did have high expectations while I had no anxiety about the exam at all. However, soon after the start of the exam, I started to feel how my strategic mistake was already impacting my performance in the exam.
The strategic mistake that I made was selecting the wrong order in the exam. I selected Quant, Verbal, IR, AWA. I realized that I made a blunder when I started the Verbal section after finishing Quant. To ensure the best of my performance I should have selected Verbal, Quant, IR, AWA. Because Quant was my strong zone. Among Verbal and Quant I should have started with Verbal when at the beginning I had no stress of the exam. After finishing Quant I had developed little stress and with that stress level I had to perform in my weak area - The Verbal section. So, I performed poorly in Verbal and finally closed with Q38, V20.
I think it should be a lesson to all who think about starting the exam with their strong zones. I believe the selection of Verbal or Quant which one comes first should be based on strength level and of course, the weak zone should be dealt first with fullest energy and concentration.

Sorry to hear the test did not go as you wanted.
GMAC says that they have done studies proving that the section order does not give advantage one way or another but I can see how it can support one mentally... so I can see how if you believe you won't do well, you indeed won't.
Quick question for you, since you took the Quant first, does it mean Q38 was a good score for you?

Yes, Q38 was enough for me. I prepared for the exam studying only 56 hours approx. So, considering my level of preparation, I knew I want going to get within the range Q35 to Q40. However, my Verbal ability was more than V25 according to my situation while I scored only V20 probably because I took Verbal in Sequence 2 being a bit stressed after answering Quant questions.
