Ok, you have all the answers choices, now, tks

An asteroid slammed into NA, which, causing plant and animal extintions, marks the end of the geological era

b)which cause the plant and animals extinctions making

c)and causing plant and animals extinctions that mark

d) an event that caused plant and animal extinctions, and it marks

e) an event that caused the plant and animal extinctions that mark

Pls. help how to recognize whether the sentence want to emphasize the event or the extintions.

in D, "it" has no clear referrent so the answer is E

D looks better than E. It is the event that marks the end of geological era.

I vote for E too. In D, "it" is not correctly used. If it is "An asteroid" that "marks the end of...", then "it" should be removed.
For E, "mark" is the verb for "the plant and animal extinctions", not for "an event".
