Hi nachomontegu,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What type of study routine have you been following? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Have you used any other study materials besides the books that you've mentioned?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC, here my answers:

Studies:
1) I study 2 hours daily on weekdays and 5-6 hours total on weekends (grand total of 15-16 hours weekly)
2) I've used Manhattan Strategy Guides and GMAT Ninja SC videos, recently bought the 2022 OG + Qreview + Vreview
3) I have not taken any CAT yet but I plan to take GMAC's diagnostic test this weekend

Goals:
4) I'm aiming for 720 but 710/700 wouldn't be terrible I guess
5) I'm going to apply next year (2022) so I need to have my GMAT ready before march, 2022 (start applications processes)

Hi nachomontegu,

To start, studying for the GMAT now - far in advance of when you will actually "need" your Score - is a smart choice. Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores though, so if you have been studying for just 1 month, then you should not expect to have mastered any of the question types just yet.

Before we can discuss how best to approach this next phase of your studies, we need to assess your current 'ability level.' As such, taking a CAT/mock this weekend is a good idea. Make sure to take it in a realistic fashion that matches-up with what you will face when you take the Official GMAT (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, if you will be at a Test Facility, then wear a face mask, etc.). Once you have that Score, you should post back here (or you can feel free to PM me directly) and we can discuss the results and how you might best proceed with your studies.

nachomontegu – Many non-natives struggle with GMAT Sentence correction because they consider GMAT SC to be a test of grammar. In reality it is a test of meaning and logic. Hence, the first thing when it comes to acing GMAT Sentence Correction is to change your approach to SC questions.
Payal Tandon, my cofounder, invented the meaning-based approach a decade ago. We have a webinar on the same tomorrow where you can learn this approach from Shraddha, one of the top 5 ranked experts on GMAT Club. Please click on the link below to register for the same:

This approach has helped South Americans ace GMAT Verbal

We have helped many non-natives ace GMAT verbal. Below are a few such examples:

You can see how the meaning-based approach helped them excel on GMAT Verbal. Leo recently graduated from Wharton.

Looking forward to seeing you in the webinar.
