absolute construction?

B/c it's not modifying the word before the comma, but rather the entire sentence.

Just a stab in the dark...

(in one part) (of the global village) -- prepositional phrases acting as adjectives modifying events

May (modal) be transmitted (Verb)

Almost (adverb modifying another adverb instantaneously)

Instantaneously (adverb).

Commendable effort. However, almost instantaneously is not really modifying the entire sentence. It's actually modifying the verb transmitted.

But your concept is pretty solid.

i use only OG, MGMAT and SC1000. I just take a deeper look, asking myself why the sentence is structured in a certain way and how can ETS make the sentence more complex. I really want to learn rather than score high on the GMAT. However, one would most definitely lead to the other. :-D

Just figured it out a few moments ago. It is an absolute construction.

Absolute phrases add insight that modifies the subject of the independent clause.

His subordinates, their faces all sweaty, called for him.

They all knew it could be undone, in an instant.
They all knew it could be undone – in an instant.

Here is a wild sentence I found on TestMagic forums when I was researching absolute phrases.

The architecture exhibited in the Empire State Building and conveyed us an idea of the prevailing attitudes of the day is important for the historical and cultural value it represents.

Try to parse it. :twisted:
