(A) it is.
No matter what x is, as long as it is > 1, it will always come after 1 which means out of 5 numbers, 1 will be the middle number (median)

set S = { -4 , x , 0, 17, 1 }

what is the median of the set S

I x > 1

II) x< 2

A

I if x > 1 then the median is one

II if x < 2 the median could be x, 1, or 0 depending on your value of x

so A
