Hi,

I am registering for the exam today and would like to know if the center in San Francisco is better than the one in San Jose.

Heard from friends...read some post ....any input would be helpful.

This would be interesting for me as well. I plan to take the test sometime this year.

What experiences have people had with test centers in the bay area (San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose)?

Having taken standardized tests before, I can attest to the fact that the following is important:

1) The test location should be quiet.
2) Use good equipment (19"/17" flat-screen monitors?)
3) Temperature setting should be not too cold or hot.
4) Availability of scratch paper -- should be able to get as much as needed.

Anybody have any reviews on these factors at bay area test centers?

Guys i was turned away from an appointment at the oakland centre today, since i did not carry my passport( non US citizen) :(
Anyway the centre did not look that great, it kind looked cramped and dull.
I am rescheduled for Feb11 at San Fran...if will give you my feedback after that........

just took the test today at the san jose testing center. there is plenty of parking, and the testing center was pretty nice by testing center standards. staff were friendly and helpful.

did see several people turned away due to not having a passport though.

I went to the San Jose test center. Its nice, quiet and well organized with enough parking in front and out on the street. Staff was quite courteous and helpful. Test center felt a bit cold after a while without my coat. They do ask for the passport so it would be wise to take that with you. Other than that, experience was great.

What about the board and marker situation? Did the San Jose center give the board and marker and any trouble regards that?
I read in some posts here that the Pearson VUE give boards and markers instead of paper sheets and pencils. Can anyone clarify based on recent experience?

Its very good. Its on the Filbert Street near the stairs to Coit Tower. Place is very quiet and people there are very friendly. Thats a different story that I got only 650 :(
