Thanks for your inquiry. Regarding your questions:
Q: Would you recommend a job change just a year before applying?
I would stick with your current role. The primary reason has to do with consistency and avoiding any disruptions in your resume. While it might be the case that you can step into this new role at the startup seamlessly, it still takes time to acclimate to a new company, managers, systems, etc. It might also be hard to demonstrate considerable impact in such a short period of time of 6 months relative to your three previous years.
Q: Does a start-up background add any brownie points to my profile evaluation? Does the MNC carry more value since I am involved with international customers and projects involved are at a much larger scale?
It also does not seem like you are dramatically improving your narrative by switching companies. There are no "brownie points" for working at startup, unless your post-MBA goal is to work for another startup, going into venture capital or something germane. The same goes for more value working with international customers/projects. It all just depends on how you want to showcase your profile with what specific underlying details.
In general, while I recommend staying where you are, I could change my mind if I have a much better understanding of your background, career vision and reasons for getting an MBA.
