Right now I'm plotting my approach to this question, but having trouble with the nuances of it. I'm applying to the part-time mba program at NYU.
For my short term goals, would it be appropriate to map out what my goals are during the mba process with regard to my work? Or is this question focusing strictly on post-mba, 1-5 years out?
For my long-term goals, I want to stay in my industry and eventually become an executive level employee (CEO, EVP, etc...) of a publicly traded company. The goal of the mba is to learn the workings of capital markets, business regulations, and accounting. I work in fashion right now and have aquired a set of industry specific skills that will go hand in hand with what I will learn from b-school to get me to where I want to go.
Is this outline too broad? Will it be better to cite specific people whose footsteps I'd like to follow and specific positions that I'd like to hold? What other information would aid this essay given my situation?

I concentrated on post mba for short term. Tied it to my current career.
Took a little more leeway on long term.
