Riddles are making the email rounds among those of us about to leave.

There are 5 pirates on an Island and they have 100 gold coins. They are deciding how they should split the coins amongst themselves and they agree on the following scheme. The most senior pirate will suggest a split and then everyone (including the senior pirate) will vote on the split. If at least half of the pirates vote for the split, the vote passes. If not, they kill the senior pirate and the next most senior pirate suggests a new scheme... and so on. You are the senior pirate. What do you propose for a splitting scheme assuming that all the pirates are greedy, logical, and want to live.

I haven't even applied yet, so I probably shouldn't be on any of these sites, but I work for a land development company, and, well...things are a bit slow.

gmatclub.com
businessweek.com
news.bbc.co.uk
msnbc.msn.com
facebook.com (don't tell me you guys don't...at least I'll **** admit it!...sigh)

I also drain a lot of time looking up random presidents/monarchs/dictators, ships, battles, countries and reading all about them on wikipedia.

Give the second and third most senior pirates 50 gold coins each, vote on the scheme (you + the 2 seniors; majority and the best deal they will get), and get the f off that island.

can you have two rounds ?

Crazy solution : but if I were senior pirate , i will take this chance ;-)

in first round split 2 each to 4th and 5th senior pirate , since they are the last one in the queue and might not even get any coins if only half votes are required , they will agree with this and you got half votes 3 out of 5 .

Next round take 2 from either of the pirate and so you will get 98!! for you and 2 for other pirate ....and vote 2/3

I remember I had to solve this one for an interview (phew - I don't remember how I solved this, but thankfully I got the job) - my first job out of school.

For some reason, I have not been able to access gmatclub from my office in the past few months. The connection always times out. So, I just end up surfing:

I figure when I leave work it could take them a while(days/weeks) to get all of my accounts deactivated, etc.

So, in that spirit I have prepared an "out of office" message that I will turn on when I log off of my computer for the last time. (13 days left at work!)

Quote:
I no longer work at xxx.
If you wanted to contact me, you should have tried sooner. Apparently it wasn't that important to you.

micro managed out the A$$! I had one project to work on before I leave, and I *had* been left alone mostly.. until just now. I don't know if I can take it anymore.. even if just for 8 more days.
