I went through the application round last fall and made it to a few colleges(my top choice as well) but was mostly waitlisted. I had applied with a 710 GMAT but have a really low undergrad GPA (sub 2.6). I am unable to attend due to some workplace complications. Now that I have to reapply would it beneficial to try and take the GRE and see if I score a 325+? I am already planning on taking one of the extension classes from UCLA to build an alternate transcript. As a military candidate its difficult for me to do internships or something else to add to my profile right now.
Hello
Cogman,
It is definitely worth changing gears and giving the GRE a try. Schools do not have a preference between the two tests, and the GRE has become more common over the past few years. Of course, you will need additional preparation for this new test, but that may be worth the effort!
If you’re looking for help with test prep,

Per your mention of being a military candidate, it is very understandable that you do not have extra time for internships and extracurriculars to beef up your profile. What schools are you targeting?
