So my case might be a little peculiar, I am really desperate for some advice.
I am current 25, I graduated with a bachelor of commerce in 2013 from a decent Canadian university. I scored 730 on my GMAT (48 Q 42 V). I have a lot of internship experience (close to two years) including a summer with Goldman Sachs in Toronto. Following graduation, I went through a lot of personal troubles so I decided to do some traveling and soul searching around the world. Fast forward to January 2015, my most recent work experience is April 2013, I feel like my chances of landing a job are slim so I am thinking about grad school. Most grad schools require two years of work experience, so I am not sure if I meet that requirement.
What should I do?
EDIT: forgot to mention, I have already passed CFA level 2 and my GPA is 3.4
Well there's a lot that can be done here, and it will also depend a lot on the specifics of your story including:
- What a happened that made you want to go away
- What you did during your travels
- The specifics of your work experience before hand
- Your specific goals.
We've worked with a few clients with similar situations, and there was this one guy for example, who had two years at a big four, and then took off for two years, and we worked with him to build a story of showing the value of what he had sone during those years (which had in them, besides discovery of the world, some volunteer, some real-life learning, collaborations, etc.)
So it is possible, buuuuuut keep in mind that you won't be matriculating till 2016, so you gotta find something to do between now and then (if you don't find a job and still want to travel you can do stuff like Peace Corps)
Best,
JF
