Should i apply to IIMs with a score of 680(Q48,v35)?

Question

Hi GMAT experts,

I gave GMAT a week back and scored 680(Q48,V35). However i was getting scores of 710-740 in my mock tests. So it is certain that i am going for a retake. But the R1 deadline for IIM A,B and SP Jain is 31st August,2017. I am not getting an appointment before 31st August. I am not getting any appointment within this month. Should i apply to these colleges with my existing score? Is there any possibility that if i get a higher GMAT score after retaking it, i can update my profile to these colleges? Or should i go for R2?

Hi Vaibhav0607 , I believe you should go ahead and apply with yoru current score. You can always mention in your optional essays that you are planning to reappear in a month or so. This may help you atleast get waitlisted. All the best

Usually you want to apply with at least an average unless you are so impressive and head and shoulders above anyone else that you don't even need to take the GMAT.... that's the general rule/suggestion for top schools.
