It would definitely be a good idea to consider top 8-15 as well. Once you go through this process it's not that much harder to write a few more applications & better to do it this year than have to reapply. You'll also still have awesome career prospects from a top 10 or 15 school & these are schools where you'll be more solidly competitve (again assuming some strong essays). Based on your goals, Columbia & NYU would both be great options and Duke & UVA would be programs to consider as well. You also want to be sure to consider cultural fit though. So much of the value of b-school is the network, and you want to make sure a school genuinely feels like a place where you want to spent two years in terms of the people & the cultural. If you don't click with your classmates it's going to be tough to form a strong network!
