I'm 32, 8 yrs WE, last 5 at a well known fairly large tech company where i've gone from software engineer to Engineering Manager (managing a team of engineers). I have an opportunity to get promoted to director in the next 1.5 yrs (where I would manage multiple engineering managers.) GMAT score is 730 and is good for another 3 years
Should I go the PT MBA route, or do I qualify for an EMBA right now. If I don't qualify for an EMBA now, what if I waited 1-2 years?
Hi. The lines between PT MBA and EMBA are a bit blurred. I think you can easily qualify for an EMBA (meaning they would gladly take your money

) though I feel you can do either with your GMAT score and WE. I would setup a few chats with the AdComs for the EMBA's you will be surprised how friendly they are.
As to what you should do, there is more value to to EMBA sicne you will be on the younger side and can recruit with the network of your classmates. At the same time, I am not sure how you feel being among more accomplished/mature individuals. You may have to earn your keep, esp if you look young though most EMBA programs are small enough where you would quickly establish a strong reputation, so I feel EMBA would be a good shot but the question is why do you need an MBA? It seems you have a path and it is working out. Are you trying to move more to the management side? Self-improvement? Earning potential?
P.S. 1.5 years is a long time to plan.... . I think that's management speak for 3 years
