I am an ISB YLP admit and my MBA starts next year i.e. Summer 23. I am facing a dilemma, wherein I am not able to decide whether I should go with this or whether I should get a deferral(i.e. to Summer 2024).
My profile -
1. Working in a project management role with a decent salary.
2. Having a work experience of around 20 months(when I join the school)
3. Aspire to be in a product role post-MBA.

What would be the prudent decision to make keeping in mind the economic situation right now?

DeusTacitus22 hope this finds you well

My candid advice is to not rush yourself into accepting the admit (if you haven't already) because this is a significant investment of time and money, and people do not plan to do an MBA more than once(ideally!). Yet I see plenty looking for a 2nd MBA abroad for having rushed into the decision earlier. Therefore, carefully consider if the ISB YLP is the best or perhaps the only path for you to take to enter a product role shortly or whether you can yet get into a product role and gain more experience before you pivot/venture toward something more significant in 3-4 years from now (via an MBA route).

Best wishes

Hello DeusTacitus22,

Apologies for the delayed response but we hope this finds you in time still.

If you wish to stay in India only, it would make sense to consider this admit and proceed (unless you can get a deferral).

If you are open to programs around the world and are happy with how your job is shaping up, you might want to consider other options as well.

Good luck!
