Hi guys, I (28y, male) need to make a decision in the next 2 days and would like to get your opinions/advice.
Context:
I'm in MBB in Southeast Asia, will likely get a promotion to post-MBA role in the next 6 months regardless of whether I do the MBA. I used to be obsessed with getting an MBA when I was in college because I went to a no-name school and hence desired a prestigious school brand. I didn't get in HBS (dinged after interview) and GSB (no interview) and got an offer from INSEAD.
I'm debating whether to attend INSEAD. I didn't receive sponsorship but only some financial support from my firm, hence the cost is ~USD$90k - which I feel is quite steep for what I might get out of the MBA.
I kind of want to get a break from work (will go back to my firm afterwards), and the idea of going to Europe and relax for a year is appealing (I've never been to Europe) but I'm not sure how the experience will be in this COVID environment. I guess meeting people from different countries and mindset will help my personal growth - but I don't know if that will actually happen. Professionally, I don't know whether the INSEAD brand is valuable for me long-term (I want to end up in tech/entrepreneurship in SEA).
Overall, I guess I don't know if somewhere down the line, I would regret that I didn't do the MBA (for both personal and professional reasons).
Would appreciate any advice here!

It seems odd that as a "high flyer" (you'll get promoted to associate/consultant when you're 28 without an MBA) they didn't offer to cover the costs of the program. Maybe there is something you could do about it.
Leaving that aside, MBB will give you enough credentials to find a role in tech/be a strong founder, an MBA would be marginal gains. If on top of that you want to relax for a year in Europe, I think it will be even less valuable.
If I were you I'd only consider it if I were going to the SGP campus, and use that to expand my network in SEA. INSEAD is pretty strong in the region, but if you're in Europe you won't be taking much advantage of that.
But if you're decided that you'll stay in your firm, you already kinda have the post MBA role, and expanding your network is not top of mind vs relaxing, $90k for a social experiment does look pretty steep. Take a sabbatical and go backpacking instead! It'll be a third of the price.

If you are already at the position of a Post-MBA consultant with the adquate salary, the value of the MBA will be somewhat less pronounced. I am not sure it is needed, esp with some of the uncertainty about how the classes will be conducted. Hopefully everyone will be vaccinated but who knows.... As to missing out on the opportunity and your age, I think there are several options available to you even if you do not get an MBA. You can always do the MIT Sloan Fellows or the MSx program at Stanford. Both are full time one-year programs.
INSEAD is a great program! I am not 100% sure it is really a great decision. I know a lot of consultants have been having a hard time with loads and overloaded at work and feeling burnt out. Some of that may be driving many of them to business school but with your accomplishments and MBB on the resume, I can see you winging it without it. At the same time, it definitely won't hurt but perhaps that's why the employer did not offer a more generous sponsorship offer? Perhaps they feel you are there already?
