Hi
lowbehold ..
Welcome to Gmatclub. In my opinion, you should not include such things which can raise some off the topic questions/doubts. Include and stay focused on the things which are helpful in presenting you, your skills and achievements. It's good to mention your weaknesses and how you are working on to improve yourself.
What's your GMAT score? Which schools are you targeting? What are your short and long term goals?

Hello,
I am from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, one of the top engineering colleges in India.
In my first year of college, I was smoking a cigarette with a bunch of strangers. (Smoking cigarettes is banned on campus). Little did I know that they were smoking marijuana filled in the cigarette. We were caught by a guard and disciplinary hearings were initiated against both of us.
The standard punishment when caught for substance abuse is cancellation of two semesters, but since nothing could be proved against me, I was asked to only pay a fine and nothing else.
There is no mark of it on my transcript, however the institute does maintain a record with itself, which it won't disclose to any university without my written approval. The record says involved in marijuana related incidents
Those disciplinary hearings were some of the most cruel days of my life and I have come a long way since, getting a GPA of 9/10, holding leadership positions in college clubs.
Wanted to know whether I should I include it in my application or not, since it was just a hearing. I actually do want to include it but not at the risk of being rejected.
