Hi raaz8522,

Just to be clear, the reason you are not purchasing exams 5 and 6 is because you plan to practice those questions directly in GMAT Club?

What I am considering at stage, I might be wrong at my perception, is that if I thoroughly practice the questions of GMAT prep (from Gmat Club), I might find the actual exam sort of handy and easy. However, at the same time if I exhaust the questions practising them without purchasing practice test 5 and 6, I might be losing the opportunity to take test in future, because I might see lots of questions to be familiar.

So, 1. if I don't practise from gmat prep now, the only source should I have will be OG, verbal and quant Review. considering the scenario, please advice me the ideal way to prepare for the last two weeks.

Hi raaz8522,

To start, since you plan to keep studying until you score 700 on the Official GMAT, then you should not 'waste' those last two Official GMAC CATs by simply working through the potential questions in those 'pools' that you might see when you take those 2 CATs. There are plenty of high-quality practice materials that you can use during these next 2 weeks of study (including certain 3rd-party practice CATs/mocks). The specific areas that you should work on going forward will depend a great deal on how you have been performing on your recent CATs.

"Review" is an exceptionally important part of the GMAT training process; your ability to define WHY you're getting questions wrong is essential to defining the areas that you need to work on (and the specific things that you need to 'fix'). As such, I'd like to know a bit more about your last CAT. While a full Mistake Tracker would provide a lot more information, there are some basic questions that you should be able to answer (and the more EXACT you can be with your answers, the better):

After reviewing each section of this recent CAT, how many questions did you get wrong....
1) Because of a silly/little mistake?
2) Because there was some math/verbal that you just could not remember how to do?
3) Because the question was too hard?
4) Because you were low on time and had to guess?
5) How many Verbal questions did you 'narrow down to 2 choices' but still get wrong?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi,

My exam is due in two weeks and I have taken GMAT prep practise test 1,2,3 and 4 [700, 730(got inflated score since I retook the test), 600, and 690 (Q34, Q49)) respectively].

However, I didn't buy the practice test 5 and 6 yet. So, Initially, I planned to solve all the questions from GMAT Prep discussed in GMAT club because I believe the actual GMAT exam replicates the practice test. However, I am kind of sceptical if this would be any right strategy before the exam. Or, should I only review the OG questions ( I completed OG 2020, Verbal and quant review)

Please advise me which source should be ideal to practice at this very moment. (NB: I intend to reach the 700 bar).

Hi Raaz,

I would suggest you not to take any mocks for at least a month because it looks like that you are struggling with the methodology. I say this because your mock scores are not really consistent. You might have somehow got the right answer without using the proper technique but it is highly unlikely that it will happen on the actual test day.

The path forward:

The first thing I suggest you is to identify the areas in which you are struggling.
  • Analyze your mocks and organize concepts based on that.
  • Once you do this, start learning the methodology to solve questions from each topic.
  • Solidify your learning by practicing a few questions of that topic (Do not time yourself at this stage)
  • Take timed quizzes so that you get used to that time constraint (Reduce the time limit for each quiz)

Only once you are done with this process for all the topics, I would suggest you to take a mock. Because the next time you take a mock, your score should be around 680-700. And the official mocks are the most reliable ones, so, I would recommend you to plan them carefully. Do not just focus on practicing more questions. Focus on the quality of the preparation rather than the quantity.

And if you are looking for a good resource which will help you with the concepts and the methodology, you can check out the free trial of GMATWhiz. It is a personalized course which will help you work on your weaker areas by analyzing your performance and providing you with real time improvement modules until you reach at least 80% accuracy in a particular topic.

Hope it helped. If you wish to know more about how to prepare or if you have any other GMAT related queries, feel free to get in touch.

There are plenty of other resources beyond what you have just mentioned. Have you checked out any course reviews here on GMAT Club?
