Hiya,
Well I was looking for admits to PhD programs in Marketing and am pretty much in the process of applying. My GMAT score is 730 (very balanced, a bit better in verbal) n AWA 6 (wish that was considered!!)...Looked at some of the topics and was scared by the comments saying that below 750 its a very uphill start.
Other stats are British citizenship (so international student and have to compete with all the super Asians), undergrad (Leeds Uni, major Chemistry n GPA of 3.7), postgrad (USC, Vitterbi---MS in Chem Engg) and MBA (Lancaster Uni, marketing)....applying to Kenan Flagler, Kelley, Carey, Marshall and Krannert.Plus I have moderate extra curriculars and about 3 years of average work ex (good company but didn't get noticed so got rather stuck)...
So should I give my GMAT again or do I stand a chance with my record?( Btw, I think 2 years in LA and all the sun in the world influenced me to forgo all the Brit Uni's

I've never heard anything so ridiculous.
People tend to believe that GMAT is magic. If you get a 770 all of a sudden you'll get into Harvard. NOT true! Yes it helps. But there are other considerations as well. You have your GMAT score you need, now it's time to give effort to all the rest.

Thanks for the advice,appreciated...I am done with my references, need to polish my SOP a bit. Do we need research proposals for a PhD in the States? Also with my profile is my school choice correct or should I aim for higher/lower?
