Test Date - 9th Aug, 2020
Location - In Center
Score - 740(q48,v42,ir8)
First Attempt
Official mocks -
3) 720(q49,v39)
4) 720 (q51,v37)
5) 770 (q49,v45)
6) 690 (q47,v38)
Frequency was two tests/week
Indian
Target - HBS, Stanford, Kellogg and Booth
Post-MBA Goal - Consulting
GPAs are average but from top-tier feeder college from India (non-engineer)
PGDM from IIM
My test day was far from ideal - I hardly slept the night before, forgot to take my passport (my father brought it later) and the temperature at the center was very very cold and the environment was uncomfortable (mask was tough too)
I am sure I will increase my Quant score, but not sure about verbal(mock scores for verbal have varied significantly)
Considering the target and my brief background, does it make sense to retake?

If you think you can maintain your verbal score and also get a few more points in quant, then I see no reason not to give the GMAT one last shot. Additionally, it seems as though the conditions in the test center were less than ideal, so I think with a retake, you likely could do better. If you decide to retake and need some advice, feel free to reach out.

First off, a 740/Q48 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. By extension, a retest is not necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.
