Hi I have more about 4 years of experience in Big Data and Machine Learning and come from an engineering background (NIT warangal). I have already taken the GMAT with 700(49,35) score. Last Year I applied to UC Irvine,Simon and Schulich and Oregon. I could convert only Oregon though I got interview calls from all of them. This year I am planning to apply again and I am wiling to apply to few higher-ranked colleges as well. I have listed down the probable list of colleges I am planning to apply.

I was wondering whether I should retake GMAT for a better score or devote this two months of time in strengthening my profile a bit more. My thought process is a 700 score will be good enough for them not to reject only on the basis of GMAT. If I work on my essays and interviews, I will have a good chance. With only two months left I think I should focus on writing better essays and preparing for interviews .
Let me know if you guys think if GMAT score will be a hurdle in any case.

Thank you for your post. Admissions committees will truly look at your application holistically, so while the GMAT is very important, it is still only one factor. To really be able to analyze your profile, I would need to learn more about the three buckets they analyze – stats (GPA/GMAT), work experience, and extracurriculars. Also, your personal and professional stories which will come across in your essays and short answers are very important in determining your fit with the school.
All of that being said, if your GMAT studying is fresh in your mind (and it has not been too long since you took it), and your practice scores give you confidence that you can significantly improve your GMAT score, then I think retaking the GMAT is definitely worth considering. You listed very competitive schools, and an improved score will certainly improve your chances.
