To better answer your question, I need more info:

What are your target schools?
How did you prep for Verbal?
When do you want to apply?

Thanks!

Thanks Thomas for the quick reply. Here are additional details.

Preparation level: Very minimal (<10 hours; including the 2 practice tests) for Quant and Verbal combined.
Target schools: Top 10 - H/S/W/INSEAD/Haas/LBS
Applying for Class of 2017; so i have time to retake.

The exact same recommendation applies to you, and since you appear to like short posts, I will try to mimic your laconic style.

Definitely retake. With real prep (you haven't scratched the surface), you should be able to score close to an 800. There is a difference to admissions committees between a 700 and a 780 score. You are looking at the very top schools, so you need every advantage possible.

If you want to control your prep, my guide to GMAT self-study could be very beneficial. I would think that a short course (80 hours or so) would give you a very elite GMAT score.

BB -

Thanks for the pithy response ( :) ), and the embedded link. At this point i am leaning more towards retaking the test and improving my score. My GPA isn't the greatest (3.4), so i am hoping a good GMAT score will help offset the negative influence it may have on my chances.

P.S. You guys are running a terrific forum here. Cheers!

Average around here is 3.5, so 3.4 is not that low but the same point applies to you. If you can get the best ROI by studying, then be it. However, most people can get a lot more value elsewhere. I would suggest you join some of the chats with those awaiting decisions in the chatroom (tomorrow and Thur will be big days too). Or review the profiles of those who got in and how you compare - there are a few spots you can do that research.

You can also see some of the zero admit club posts (search for zero admits) to get ideas.

We have had people with super high scores not get in... ANYWHERE
Here is a guy with 750: the-2008-zero-admits-club-62142.html#p452479 (got in the year after)

Tarmac got 770 700-clubbers-add-your-name-to-the-list-64636.html#p472959
He was a zero admit: the-2009-zero-admits-club-76219.html#p574297

And.... 770 in 2008 was like 790 today.
Also, here is NonYankee with the perfect 800. He got dinged everywhere except Booth: the-2012-2013-zero-admit-club-144164-40.html#p1207852

The GMAT Score counts, but only so much.
