This is my first post in GMATCLUB. I hope I maintain the writing and explaining standards of GMATCLUB.

I prepared for GMAT for about 5 months.

I started with MGMAT mock and scored 590.
My other mock scores are:
MGMAT 1: 590
GMAT prep1:630
MGMAT 2:630
MGMAT 3: 590
MGMAT 4: 650
Veritas 1:650
Kaptest: 670
Gmat prep 2:690
Veritas 2: 680
MGMAT 5: 680
MGMAT 6: 690
Gmat exam pack1:690
Gmat exam pack2:710

On the test day, i scored 660(q49, V 31)

I referred this material for my exam: Manhattan SC, CR & RC, OG review, Verbal & Quant. Free Resources on EGMAT.

Should I retake the exam or this much variation is there in the exam vs mock. All mocks were taken with no break and IR/AWA was attempted.

Regards

Hey there,
Pretty much similar scores in mocks and on the GMAT and took a retake. GMAT prep is the actual reflection or closest reflection in terms of score. It is better if you take a retake. A 700+ is on the cards for you , provided you train for the gmat. Good luck

Try purchasing GMAT club tests if you can , else work your way through rewards and take a monthly subscription try and finish the Quant part coupled with the GMAT club math pdf .
A Q 49+ score would be a guarantee

For verbal , a lot of practice is required. Complete 700-800 level questions from the pdfs available on gmat club along with veritas SC/CR/RC and Aristotle if you can find them
Good luck

Thanks for your words. Like u said Train for GMAT. Does that means grasping concepts or i need more practice? and in case of practise i should take mock tests or sectional tests. I am really confused as to what should i do from now on...

I was in the same boat as you are now

First identify your mistakes , if you can purchase an ESR for your gmat , do get one. It is available on mba.com . Though the ESR is not your true reflection of your level , it helps you understand where you have gone wrong on the gmat

Next a Q49 is pretty decent , so to cross the 700 , ideally a V 35 would help . For Verbal identify your weak areas and first learn/ get hold of the basics

Do the manhattan SC/CR/RC again. get hold of another set veritas / Aristotle and make sure you complete them

Once you are done , get some manhattan tests/ re use gmat prep
see where you stand , analyse again all your mistakes . DO MAINTAIN an error log .

and keep practicing from various sources , towards the far end of your preparation , stick to official questions , OG and gmat prep and let go of any other source. Re-do GMAT prep n i think you will cross the 700 barrier

good luck
