Hi, I took GMAT FE and got 675 (95%; Q94%/V97%/DI63%). (675 is well enough for average GMAT score for my dream programs)
As an international PhD applicant in areas highly related to data science, I am concerned if my DI score hurt my chance to get into PhD.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Congratulations on the score!
I don’t know enough about PhD programs but I can tell you that for business schools, only the total score matters.
If your total is above average, they’re happy to see you.
For PhD, I think you can email two programs and they would be fairly open to answering this question. You can ask them if they would recommend that you retake or not.
You can phrase it and say that you got a score that seems to fit within the average parameters and though you were expecting a higher and the more balanced sectional score, this is what happened on the test day. Do you have any concerns with my academic abilities based on the score or do you recommend to retake for a result?
This is a fairly typical question within masters and MBA programs. If for some reason you are concerned about looking embarrassed by this question, you can always use a random email address that they will never be able to trace to you 😇

Hi bbss27,
You may want to check directly with your target schools/programs, as some PhD programs may look at individual sections (this is very rare for MBA programs).
For what it's worth, I think DI is still too new, and most programs wouldn't have the data/experience to use DI scores separately.
