Recommendations:I think I could get one from my supervisor and a couple former professors. I haven't kept in touch to get one from my last employer. Not sure if that would be a problem.
I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but just something to consider - most schools heavily discourage getting recommendations from professors if you're more than a year or so out of school (and many discourage it unless you're applying as a college senior). I just this might further affect your decision if you're already nervous about getting recommendations from your current employer - unless an appicant's undergrad experience included something very extraordinary, it's usually not a good idea to use a professor for a rec.
That being said - it really depends on you. If you're tied to NYC, I'd ask yourself if there's a lot better shot of getting into Columbia or NYU if you waited a year to apply. If there isn't, then whether it's now or later, you're going to have to deal with applying and getting rejected if you want to give b-school a shot. If you're really worried, then you might have to expand your schools to lower ranked schools if you absolutely want to go somewhere. However, if you think you're going to have a much better shot at getting accepted if you wait, then obviously, wait a year or two if you're worried about your stock at work should you not get in. Or figure out recommenders that aren't professors or current employers. Just my two cents.
