I am kind of sure that its a printing mistake as it is evident that the car X is traveling more distance and hence is traveling at higher speed to catch up with car Y.

In my opinion, Car X has covered the more distance as compared to Car Y. Why, then, Car Y has d+40, when it just covered smaller distance in 2 hours 40 minutes?
