Significance of the Columbia Admissions Video (Essay 2 Full-time MBA)
As you take the time to read through the application essay prompts for the full-time Columbia Business School MBA program, you will note that the second question asks you to view a short video before responding to the question.
What is the significance of this? Through the contents of the video, Columbia is signaling once again that it is very important to them that you articulate why Columbia, with its New York location, is ideal for you. What specific benefits will you enjoy because of the New York location? In what ways are these benefits key for your growth? In answering these questions, you are also answering the question about why you would choose Columbia over other top business schools such as Wharton or MIT.
Please note, if you do not convince Columbia that you are very serious about attending Columbia, rather than just trying to use the school as your “back-up” or “safety school”, you can get rejected on that basis. So, do your homework well and convey a detailed, convincing response to Essay 2 about why being “at the very center of business” will benefit you enormously during your MBA studies.
