Hi

I have an admit from both the schools: Simon Business School(University of Rochestor) in US
and Schulich School of business (York University) in Canada.
Simons fees is 95K USD, Schulich is 60k CAD

So I want help in decideing between the two mainly on the following parameters:
1)US vs Canada
2) Brand value
3) Placements for internatinal students
4) ROI
5)career opportunities.

Any sugeestions would help

Some more info about your background and your short term/long term goals would have helped me give you better insights, yet i am trying to give help you with your query as much as i can.

1)US vs Canada
Depends on where you want to settle, one difference is obvious that US has many times more opportunities than canada considering the size of economy, if you are international student, canada has friendly work permit rules as compared to US.

2) Brand value

Both schools have decent brand values in the respective regions, so choose a school where you want to settle, do not choose schullich if you want to settle in US and vice versa.

3) Placements for international students
With canadian schools, you have advantage of assured work permit of three years post your two years of graduation at schullich, in US you have to start looking for your Visa post your studies, schullich has a huge pool of international students - especially from India.


4) ROI

I would say do not worry much about the difference of 30-35k , over a career of your 30/35 years, this difference is negligible, choose a school that you wanna study at and a school that fits your budget.

5)career opportunities.

Simon is better for finance, simon had 30+% students placed with financial services last year, schullich has unique combinations of concentrations , you can choose from various concentrations.

Well i am indian student so would be a international students at both the places.
I am from an IT background with 4 yrs of exp and wud like to make a career switch to
business consulting or marketing not much of interest in finance.

My main concern wud be the ease or better chance of finding a job at graduation
specially in US coz we jus get 2 mnths time post our graduation.

How easy wud it be to make a career shift(role and industry) at the 2 places?

Wat wud be the prospects like if a cum bak 2 india?

Location factor..Toronto vs rochestor?

any idea on avg salaries and placemnts of international students at both the places??

First of all apologies for late reply.

In terms of finding jobs, canada would be a better option for you if we compare these two schools because you get an assured work permit of three years post two years of education, check the electives at schullich for marketing (especially for media). Consulting opportunities will be a bit better at simon.

Better for schullich, Schullich will have an edge since schullich has started a campus in Mumbai, so industry interaction is better and you can seek their help if you come back to india.

Schullich has a huge chunk of international students from china and india, so the school can not afford to ignore efforts in placing international students.
