Since India has received less than normal rainfall this monsoon, we cannot expect that the agricultural activity and its derivatives will contribute to GDP growth this year.

Identify the flaw in the above argument.

A. The author has overlooked the fact that agriculture does not contribute more than 50% of India's GDP.

B. Agricultural activities dependent on natural / seasonal supply of water does not contribute to GDP growth anywhere in the world.

C. The author has failed to consider the impact of industrialization on agriculture.

D. India is lined with a large number of seasonal rivers fed by the monsoon.

E. The author has overlooked the fact that India has an excellent irrigation system.

Hi I was confused between option c & option E and ended up choosing option C. May you kindly explain what makes option C wrong?

Hi

Even I ended up with answer choices C and E, of which I chose C

When I took a closer look at these two options again, I realized the difference between them

Option C: This option highlights another factor or reason why the agricultural output may have been effected.

Option E: This option brings in the possibility that despite receiving less rainfall, the irrigation system may be so well constructed that even with the low level of rainfall, the system could still manage to distribute what it had managed to collect so efficiently that the agricultural output didn't get affected to that great of an extent.

Since we are asked to weaken the possibility that agricultural output will not contribute to this year's GDP, option E more closely resonates with this question's objective. Hence, the correct answer choice to this question would be E
